A foundation built through real support work.
My background in the disability sector has been shaped by five years of hands-on experience across support work, youth mentoring, capacity building, compliance, operations and community-based programs.
I first entered the sector working independently with young people, supporting them through practical, outdoor-based capacity building activities such as surfing, fishing, kayaking and camping. That work gave me a strong understanding of how trust, confidence, routine, communication and real-world experiences can help people build skills and connection.
I later worked with East Coast Care Connect, where my role expanded across compliance, operations and the development of capacity building programs.
During this time, I worked closely with support coordinators, therapists, support workers and operational teams, gaining a broader understanding of the NDIS framework and how different supports need to work together around a participant.
This experience helped me understand the importance of clear communication, strong documentation, safe systems, service coordination and person-centred planning.
This background continues to shape the way I approach support coordination: practical, relationship-based and focused on helping people feel more confident navigating the supports around them.
